It's the third weekend in January and for the first time this year the weather was decent enough this weekend to get down to the plot and do a bit of work. The ground is far to wet to do any serious digging but we managed a bit of weeding and general tidying up. Hopefully we'll get a dry week and I'll be able to get on with some serious groundwork.

On a positive note, the garlic is looking fantastic so here's a shot of my Early Purple. If you haven't grown it before, it's well worth it. It's not a great one for long storage but tastes superb eaten green. It's produced by the IOW Garlic Farm  and although this particular variety is no longer available there are alternatives posted on their web site. I'll just have to save some cloves to plant next year.
